Evenings with Krug
The 2026 Krug Ambassade Dinner at Herons
The Umstead Hotel and Spa is honored to enter its second year as an official Krug Ambassade, joining a select collection of culinary destinations around the world united by an appreciation for exceptional hospitality and the singular expression of Krug Champagne.
This fall, Chef Steven Devereaux Greene brings that partnership to the table at Herons with a four-course dining experience inspired by the season at One Oak Farm.
Drawing from ingredients harvested just beyond the restaurant, each course will be thoughtfully paired with a different expression of Krug Champagne, creating an evening that celebrates the relationship between season and the glass.

King of Kentucky: A Rare Tasting
Since its return in 2018, King of Kentucky has become one of Brown-Forman’s most coveted bourbon releases, traditionally offered once each year as a highly limited single barrel.
In 2026, Brown-Forman introduced something entirely new: three 12 Year Small Batch expressions, bottled at three different proofs to showcase the distinctive character revealed at each strength.
On October 6, The Umstead invites just 14 guests to experience all three releases side by side during an intimate guided tasting led by representatives from Brown-Forman. Batch 1, Batch 2 and Batch 3 will be explored throughout the evening, offering a rare opportunity to experience the nuances between each expression within a single tasting.
