Summer officially starts this month, and we couldn’t be more excited.  Here are a few ways we plane to start our summer right!

Triangle Restaurant Week: The Triangle is filled with culinary experiences and celebrated chefs, including recent James Beard Winner for Best Chef Ashley Christensen, not to mention James Beard Semifinalists Scott Crawford, Cheetie Kumar, Oscar Diaz, and our own Executive Chef Steven Greene.  We also have numerous unique food options and restaurants worth exploring and what better way to do so than at Restaurant Week.  From June 3rd to 9th various restaurants will be offering prix fix menus and other special tastings to satiate your palate.  Rediscover old favorites or explore one you’ve been waiting to try; more information on restaurant week can be found here.

International Food Festival: Already familiar with Raleigh’s food scene? Then take a culinary trip around the world at the International Food Festival on June 8th. Featuring dance performances, bands, and of course food from all over the globe, this family friendly event is complimentary to all and begins at 12:00 pm. For additional festival details, visit their website here.

Summer Outdoor Movies: We are enjoying all those summer nights with the abundance of outdoor movies available in Raleigh.  Head over to the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh or Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary and enjoy the movies under the moonlit sky.  Here is what’s coming in June:

  • NCMA: The Princess Bride, Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Bohemian Rhapsody
  • Koka Booth Amphitheater: Hotel Transylvania 3, Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Wreck-It Ralph: Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Edmunds Oast Guest Chef Dinner: We are excited to welcome Edmunds Oast Brewery to The Umstead for a Guest Chef Beer Dinner on June 14th!  This phenomenal brewery will be bringing a selection of beers to pair with each of the 5 courses created in collaboration between Chef Bob Cook of Edmunds Oast and our own Chef Steven Greene.  Not yet available in North Carolina, Edmunds Oast Brewery was named one of USA Today’s 10 Best.  Join us on the terrace for this unique beer dinner, tickets available at 919-447-4050.

The Audubon Experience: Too hot to be outdoors?  Then head inside the North Carolina Museum of Art for the Audubon Experience exhibit.  Correlating with the ongoing Birds of America gallery, this temporary presentation showcases four different large-scale Audubon folios where visitors can educate themselves on the artist life of this incredible naturalist.  Available through September of this year, more information can be found by visiting the North Carolina Museum of Art here.
