Warmer weather and longer days means more time to enjoy our beautiful city! Here is what we are most excited to do during June:

Restaurant week: The week of June 4th to 10th restaurants around the Triangle will be celebrating Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants offer special, three-course prix fix menus for both lunch and dinner and is a great way to get out and try a few new spots. This year we are hitting a few fan favorites, including Dashi, Mateo, and Guglhupf Bakery, Café, and Restaurant in Durham, along with Coquette, Garland, and Café Luna in Raleigh. For a full list of participating restaurants and menus, click here.

Wine dinner in Herons: We are excited to welcome Alexana Winery to Herons on Thursday, June 7th for a special wine dinner. This incredible winery is a reflection of Oregon’s cool climate and produces wines known for their elegance, balance and character. Alexana also custom blends our unique Umstead Cuveé Pinot Noir, designed to highlight the unique flavors of Chef Steven Greene’s cuisine. Enjoy a welcome drink in the Sunroom with Head Winemaker, Bryan Weil, before joining him in the private dining room for a 5-course dinner with wine pairings from Alexana. Tickets are $150 plus tax and gratuity and can be purchased at 919-447-4050.

Pimento Cheese Festival: Pimento Cheese? Yes, please! Downtown Cary will play host to a Pimento Cheese Festival on Saturday, June 9th where food trucks will line up on Academy Street to serve samples and dishes alongside their regular menus. There will also be live music, local breweries, and of course, a pimento cheese sculpting contest. More details are available here.

Raleigh International Food Festival: If pimento cheese isn’t your thing, or if you want to continue eating your way through the weekend, then explore the world of food at Raleigh’s International Food Festival also on Saturday, June 9th. Held in City Plaza, there will be food stalls from Jamaica, Hungary, Venezuela, Lebanon, Germany, and more! There will also be international wine from countries including France, Spa, and Chile along with beer from Germany, Poland, Russia, and India. This family friendly event features international dance performances, bands, and kids activities too. For more information, visit their website here.

Food Truck Rodeo: In case you haven’t had enough food, get to downtown Raleigh on Sunday, June 10th for another Food Truck Rodeo. With more than 50 food trucks from across North Carolina, this regular event spreads out over 11 city blocks along Fayetteville Street. Admission is free and more information can be found here.

Outdoor Movies- Now that summer is here, it’s time to sit under the stars and enjoy a few outdoor movies. Each weekend around the triangle, enjoy movies both old and new outdoors. Our favorites spots to enjoy are the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, and Raleigh’s Little Theater in Raleigh. Bring your own blankets, chairs, and picnic baskets or enjoy various concessions at each location. For a full list of locations and movies, check out Visit Raleigh here.
