Summertime is here! We are excited to welcome this warm weather and enjoy days by the pool, cool cocktails, and trips to the beach. Summertime also means outdoor movies are back, and with plenty of locations to choose from it’s easy to pick a movie everyone can agree on. Our favorites are the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, and of course the City Plaza downtown, all with great lineups this season. Or we head out Henderson to the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theater for the full drive in experience. But before we take to the movies, we are headed out to these events in June.

Step back into the medieval times at the North Carolina Museum of Art’s Family Renaissance Fair on Sunday, June 4th. This kid friendly event features music, games, mask-making, blacksmithing, and live performances. Spend the afternoon with princesses and pirates, kings and comedians, acrobats and fairies as you roam through the renaissance village. Events take place both indoors and out come rain or shine. Food trucks will also be onsite, so be sure to grab a turkey leg for the full experience. More information can be found here.

Interested in trying some new restaurants or visiting a few of your old favorites? Triangle Restaurant Week is June 5th through 11th and we are excited to get out on the town for it. Some of our favorite participants this year are Garland, who’s chef Cheetie Kumar was just named a James Beard Semifinalist for 2017, Linus and Peppers for the best deli sandwiches in town by far, Vidrio for Mediterranean style cuisine, perfect for the summer heat. For a full list and details, tap here.

Closing out restaurant week is another of our amazing Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo’s! Beginning at noon on June 11th, Fayetteville Street shuts down as the food trucks pile in. If this is your first time at the rodeo, check out La Farm Bakery, Gonza Taco, Pho Nomenal Dumpling. Otherwise, we’ll be at the lobster roll truck waiting. Details available here.

It wouldn’t be North Carolina if we didn’t talk about our craft beer, and we here in Raleigh have some of the best. To see for yourself, check out Beer Camp on Tour at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts on June 17th and celebrate the craft beer community. With hundreds of craft beers, food trucks, live music, it is a great way to spend your Saturday. Tickets available here.

Don’t forget about Dad this June 18th as we celebrate Father’s Day. Take him to brunch in Herons or stop by The Gift Shop to find the perfect present. Cufflinks, coasters, and clothing, there are plenty of options to choose from, or purchase a gift card and let him decide. The Gift Shop is open daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm or visit our online store here.

If you don’t feel like heading into Raleigh, then head down the street for Cary’s Downtown Chowdown food truck rodeo on June 25th. In addition to the food trucks, local wine and beer will be available as well as live music. Full details available here.
