Post an Entry

We can’t believe it’s already June and 2016 is halfway over! But before we start to panic about how time is flying by, we should remember to enjoy all the moments we can with those we care about. Here are some of the best events this month to enjoy with our loved ones.

At The Umstead

June 9: This month we welcome Bodega Numanthia and their Estate Director, Lucas Lowi, for a special wine dinner. This incredible Spanish winery is one of only nine to receive a perfect score by Robert Parker for its flagship wine, Termanthia, which Sommelier Hai Tran has paired with James Beard Semifinalist, Steven Greene’s entrée in this 5 course dinner. Tickets are available at 919-447-4050.

June 30: With Independence Day right around the corner, join our sommelier as we shift our focus onto the amazing wines coming from around our area. For this Umstead Uncorked, we will focus on North Carolina and Virginia wines and explore the potentials of each state and where the future of the industry is headed. By the end of the tastings, you might even have some great ideas for your upcoming cookout! Tickets available at 919-447-4050.

Around Town

June 6 to 12: Triangle Restaurant Week returns to celebrate the culinary explosion that the triangle has experienced over the last few years. Participating restaurants offer special three-course menus or fixed pricing, with no reservations, tickets or passes required! What are some of our favorites? P.G. Werth’s, 42nd Street Oyster Bar, and Garland.

June 10: Of all the outdoor movie series to enjoy, one of our favorites is the PNC Downtown Raleigh series at City Plaza, and tonight they are playing Jumanji, a childhood favorite of everyone’s featuring the late Robin Williams. Admission is free and more details can be found here, be sure to check out their other movies in this series such as The Princess Bride on June 17 or The Sandlot on July 1.

June 11: Slide the City returns to Downtown Raleigh with its street long water slide for you to enjoy. Details and tickets can be found here.

June 12: Head downtown for the Food Truck Rodeo on Fayetteville street. Rodeo includes ½ mile of food trucks spread across 11 city blocks. Two words: come hungry.

June 18: the North Carolina Museum of Art honors the late David Bowie and the 30th anniversary of the cult classic “Labyrinth” with a night of music and film. Cirque de Vol and the Labyrinth Bowie Cover Band will perform, followed by a screening of “Labyrinth”. Food trucks, facepainting, and a Bowie Tribute Wall all included. Tickets $10-$15, more information here.

Compliments of the house: before it gets too warm from the North Carolina summer heat, enjoy an evening stroll around our three acre lake, with the water illumnitated by our fountains. The perfect end to a wonderful day.
