'Tis the Holiday season, and the first thing that comes to mind is busy busy busy! We are bustling around, cleaning, cooking, decorating and shopping. But don't forget in all the chaos of crowds, grocery stores, and parking lots - in which there never seem to be enough spots- the holidays are about spending time with friends and family. And if you are looking to show them a good time, here is what I recommend meeting up to do for this December month:

At the Hotel
Supposedly upon drinking Champagne for the first time, Monk Dom Pierre Perignon shouted, "Come quickly! I'm drinking stars!" So come drink stars with us! At our annual Caviar and Champagne dinner, you enjoy a conversation and tasting of caviar and champagne with Executive Chef Steven Greene. This is followed by a three course caviar inspired dinner, where Sommelier Hai Tran has hand selected champagnes for each. Menu available here and tickets can be purchased at 919-447-4050.

If the decorating and shopping has got you beat, then leave the cooking to us. Join us both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Herons for a four course menu with choices. The only thing you need to worry about is choosing which dessert! Reservations at 919-447-4050.

If you are holding down the fort through the holidays, then cut loose for New Years. Dancing, drinking, food, and live entertainment are all here at our New Year’s Eve Gala, with Soul Psychedelic playing into the wee hours of the morning. Enjoy the countdown, confetti, and champagne at midnight, then retreat to your room if you'd like to stay over. Or if watching the Acorn drop at home is more your speed, then enjoy our New Year’s Eve Dinner in Herons, a more intimate experience.

Around Town
Start off the holidays at the Scandinavian Christmas Fair on December 5. It’s an old world experience in this celebration of authentic traditions from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Food, music, costumes, and crafts, only 5 minutes away at the North Carolina State Fair Grounds. Tickets are $7 per adult, children 12 and under are free.

How about a reindeer musical? That's Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer musical to be exact. Rudolph, Hermey the Elf, and all the misfit toys come to life on stage through December 30th at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater. Tickets range $22.69 to $54.71.

And worth mentioning again is the outdoor ice rink, located at the City Plaza in downtown Raleigh. All month long, enjoy the outdoors at this classic ice rink, even enjoy a skate on Christmas Day! Skate rental included in your tickets, more information here.

Compliments of the house
Make the most of our holiday décor scattered throughout the property. I love sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine while enjoying the live music nightly.
